Health & Medical
The school dentist examines the children’s teeth at various times during their time here. You will be notified beforehand of this examination and also if any treatments are recommended.
We rely on parents to check their children’s hair for head lice and to inform the school if they find any unwelcome visitors. Head lice are extremely common, especially in primary schools, and can spread quickly. If your child has lice they must be treated immediately, for more infomation check the netdoctor website.
Medicines in school
Medication should be administered at home whenever possible. Medicines to be taken three times a day can be given before and after school and at night. On the rare occasions where children need medication administered during the day, a permission form should be completed in the office. If your child needs to bring medicine to school it should be left with the Deputy Head. Administering instructions must be clearly written.
Asthma inhalers are kept by the children either in the classroom or in the medical room and must be clearly labelled with the child’s name.
Emergencies – telephone numbers
At the beginning of the school year we ask you to provide the school with emergency contact details (addresses and telephone numbers). This information is vital as we may need to contact you about the health of your child. Parents must contact the school office to update the information when addresses or phone numbers (especially mobile numbers) change.
If a child becomes ill or is injured and parents/carers are unavailable the Headteacher will seek medical help and may take the child to hospital.
No smoking policy
Baden Powell is a totally non-smoking environment – both within the buildings and outside on school premises. This policy also applies at social functions.
